Personal & Working Retreats

PERSONAL & WORKING RETREATS

Outside of our Sacred Clowning courses, there are different ways to stay as a guest at Casa Saraswati.

1. Personal Retreat
You are welcome to stay for a personal retreat. Retreats are offered to those who wish to spend time alone, connect with nature and have a genuine interest in the practice of mindfulness. This is an OPPORTUNITY to take time for yourself, practice meditation, rest and/or take some "headspace" in order to develop a creative project (writing a book, preparing a performance etc.).

Stay may last from 1 week to 3 months.

The personal retreats are set up on a self catering bases so that you are free to plan your day according to your needs.
The fee of your stay will depend of the length of time. It includes:
  • Accommodation in an independent studio with kitchen, bathroom and terrace.
  • Access to the daily guided meditation practice (Monday to Friday).
  • Basic meditation guidance to support your practice.
  • Participation to the classes we offer at a discounted rate (upon availability).
  • Access to the sun terraces, gardens and orchards.
  • 1 hour karma Yoga Monday to Friday (volunteering)
There are plenty of walks in the nearby forest accessible by bus within 20 mins.

2. Working Retreat Programme For Volunteers

The working retreat program at Casa Saraswati is an OPPORTUNITY for you to deepen your meditation practice and integrate it into daily life, and at the same time you will be gaining new skills and contributing to the upkeep, the well being and the retreat atmosphere of our centre.

REQUIREMENTS: To take part in this program you must have previous experience in gardening work and/or building maintenance. You must also be physically fit and feel comfortable within a calm and silent environment. The applicant must have either the aspiration to establish a daily practice of meditation, OR already have an established meditation practice.

SCHEDULE: The work retreat schedule consists of a 30/45min guided morning meditation group practice plus six hours of physical work, 5 days a week. The work itself will involve:
  • Taking care of the vegetable garden
  • Helping with maintenance and construction projects
  • Making jams and other preserves
  • Cleaning
During the weekends we encourage you to dedicate at least one day to your own personal retreat.

Additionally you will have the SUPPORT of our staff throughout your stay to clarify aspects of meditation and integration. These meetings must be scheduled one day in advance.

PLANNING: In the working retreat program you must plan to stay with us for a minimum of one month. The first two weeks will be a trial period after which we will review your stay and decide
whether it is appropriate to continue or not. Provided both parties agree, your stay may be prolonged to 2 months or 3 months.

We invite you to be flexible, being able to work in whichever area they are most needed. To work mindfully and independently can be very challenging at times if you are not ready for it, so please review your motivation before applying.

Please write to us at casa.saraswati@gmail.com if you are interested and would like further information. This is the only email address that we use for volunteering enquiries, so please do not use our other email addresses for this purpose.
